NFL OffSeason Signings

LAS VEGAS - With the 2023 NFL Draft now complete and a flurry of free agent signings and impressive contract offerings,this year’s offseason has reshaped the NFL landscape. Fromblockbuster moves to bargain-bin shopping, here are some of the more significant signings, trade acquisitions, and first round draft picks by team:

 AFC East

  1. Buffalo Bills – The Bills re-signed many of their free agent players both on defense and offense and added former Patriots RB Damien Harris to a one-year contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 25, the Bills signed Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah.

  2. Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins signed a slew of players to one-year deals, maintaining their RB squad by resigning Myles Gaskin, Raheem Mostert, and Jeff Wilson. In hopes of improving their defense, the Dolphins acquired CB Jalen Ramsey in a trade with the LA Rams in exchange for a 2023 third round draft pick and TE Hunter Long. Miami did not have any draft picks in the first round. Their first pick came in the second round at pick number 51, signing Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina.

  3. New England Patriots – While the Patriots went on to re-sign many of their tackles and linebackers, the team made some waves by signing Juju Smith-Schuster to a three-year contract worth up to $33 million with incentives. New England also added former Jaguars RB James Robinson, and former Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 17, the Pats signed Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon.

  4. New York Jets – As many analysts speculated, the Jets acquired Super Bowl Champion and four-time League MVP Aaron Rodgers in a trade with the Green Bay Packers for a number of first and second round draft picks in 2023 and 2024. The QB will also be joined by former Packers WR Allen Lazard, signed to a four-year, $44 million contract and long-time Rodgers WR Randall Cobb, signed to a one-year deal. The team added some extra help to their receiving corps by signing former Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 15, the Jets signed Will McDonald IV, Edge, Iowa State.

AFC North

  1. Baltimore Ravens – While many speculated for QB Lamar Jackson to land on a different team, the Ravens and the one-time League MVP have agreed to a very lucrative five-year, $260 million contract extension, that includes $185 million in guarantees, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history. The Ravens also added former Rams WR Odell Beckham Jr. and former Patriots WR Nelson Agholor to one-year deals. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 22, Baltimore signed ZayFlowers, WR, Boston College.

  2. Cincinnati Bengals – The Bengals had modest offseason action, re-signing a number of their free agents to one-to-three-year contracts. The team added some much-needed help on the offensive line by signing former Chiefs OT Orlando Brown to a four-year, $64 million contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 28, the Bengals signed Myles Murphy, Edge, Clemson.

  3. Cleveland Browns – The Browns acquired a number ofdefensive linemen, tackles, and linebackers, most notably signing former Vikings DT Dalvin Tomlinson to a four-year $57 million contract. The team also added to their receiving corps former Seahawks WR Marquise Goodwin, and in a trade withthe Jets, the Browns acquired WR Elijah Moore in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick. Cleveland did not have any draft picks in the first or second round. Their first pick came in the third round at pick number 74, signing Cedric Tillman, WR, Tennessee.

  4. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers’ offseason had them signing several players to lucrative multi-year contracts. More notably these included OG Isaac Seumalo, signed for a three-year, $24 million contract, DL Larry Ogunjobi, re-signed of a three-year,$29 million contract, LB Cole Holcomb, signed for a three-year,$18 million deal, and CB Patrick Peterson, signed for a two-year, $14 million deal. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 14, the Steelers signed Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia.

AFC South

  1. Houston Texans – The Texans had a very busy offseason,reshaping their team with over 20 player transactions and signing the 2023 second overall draft pick C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State. Notable signings include former Bills players QB Case Keenum and RB Devin Singletary, former Titans WR Robert Woods, former Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz, and OG Shaq Mason acquired in a trade with the Buccaneers. The Texans also had the third overall first round draft pick, which they used to sign Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama.

  2. Indianapolis Colts – The Colts signed QB Gardner Minshew to a one-year deal, and offered lucrative multi-year contracts to Edge Samson Ebukam, signed for a three-year, $27 million contract. The team also signed K Matt Gay for a four-year $22.5 million deal. With the 2023 fourth overall pick in their hands, the Colts signed Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida.

  3. Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jaguars re-signed QB C.J. Beathard for a two-year, $4.5 million deal, and S Andrew Wingard on a three-year $13.8 million max value contract. The team alsosigned DL Roy Robertson-Harris to a three-year, $30 million extension, and offered TE Evan Engram a non-exclusive franchise tag. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 27, the Jaguars signed Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma.

  4. Tennessee Titans – The Titans offered lucrative three-year contracts to OT Andre Dillard, signed for $29 million, and DL Arden Key, signed for $21 million. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 11, the Titans signed Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern.  

AFC West

  1. Denver Broncos – The Broncos offered some big contract deals that included OT Mike McGlinchey for a five-year, $87.5 million contract, OG Ben Powers, signed for a four-year, $52 million contract, and DL Zach Allen, signed for a three-year, $45.75 million contract. The team also signed former Raiders QB Jarrett Stidham for a two-year, $10 million deal, and former Bengals RB Samaje Perine for a two-year, $7.5 million contract. Denver did not have any draft picks in the first round. Their first pick came in the second round at pick number 63, signing Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Oklahoma.

  2. Kansas City Chiefs – The Super Bowl Champions did not have much of an exciting offseason. They added former Buccaneers QB Blaine Gabbert, and former Giants WR Richie James. The Chiefs also signed OT Jawaan Taylor to a lucrative four-year, $80 million contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 31, Kansas City signed Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Edge, Kansas State.

  3. Las Vegas Raiders – With a very busy offseason, the Raiders had over 25 player transactions that focused mainly on improving offensive power. Notable signings include former 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, signed for a three-year, $72.75 million contract, former Titans TE Austin Hooper, former Texans TE O.J. Howard, former Chargers WR DeAndre Carter, former Texans WR Phillip Dorset, and former Patriots WR JakobiMyers. The Raiders also signed the seventh overall first round draft pick, Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech.

  4. Los Angeles Chargers – The Chargers had a bit of a quiet offseason, with their biggest deal being the signing of LB Eric Kendricks, for a two-year, $13.25 million contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 21, the Chargers signed Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU.  

NFC East

  1. Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys improved on both sides of the ball by acquiring WR Brandin Cooks in a trade with the Texansin exchange for fifth and sixth-round draft picks, and acquiring Stephon Gilmore in a trade with the Colts in exchange of a fifth-round draft pick. The team also re-signed S Donovan Wilson to a three-year, $24 million deal. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 26, the Cowboys signed Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan.

  2. New York Giants – The Giants extended their belief in QB Daniel Jones, re-signing him to a four-year, $160 million contract, while RB Saquon Barkley received a non-exclusive franchise tag. They also signed LB Bobby Okereke on a four-year, $40 million contract. On their receiving corps, the team re-signed WR Darius Slayton and WR Sterling Shepard, and added former Colts WR Parris Campbell and former Bills WR Jamison Crowder. They also acquired TE Darren Waller in a trade with the Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 24, the Giants signed Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland.

  3. Philadelphia Eagles – Coming off their Super Bowl appearance, the Eagles went all in with QB Jalen Hurts, agreeing to a five-year, $255 million contract extension that includes $179 million in guarantees and a no-trade clause, making him the second highest paid player behind Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson. The team also added RB D’Andre Swift in a trade with the Lions in exchange for 2025 fourth-round draft pick and pick no. 219 in 2023. On their defensive backfield, the Eagles locked in CB James Bradberry and CB Darius Slay, both for three-year, multi-million-dollar contracts. In the first round of the Draft at pick number nine, the Eagles signed Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia. 

  4. Washington Commanders – The Commanders focused their offseason signings on improving in the trenches. Notable signings included OT Andrew Wylie, signed for a three-year, $24 million contract, OL Nick Gates, on a three-year $16.5 million contract, and big price tag DL Daron Payne, on a four-year, $90 million contract. The team also added QB Jacoby Brissett, signed for a one-year, $8 million contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 16, the Commanders signed Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State.

NFC North

  1. Chicago Bears – In hopes of aiding their QB Justin Fields, Chicago added several offensive pieces. Notably they acquired WR DJ Moore in a trade with the Panthers in exchange for the number one overall 2023 draft pick. The Bears also received the number nine overall pick, as well as a 2023 second-rounder, a 2024 first-rounder, and a 2025 second-rounder. The team also signed former Seahawks RB Travis Homer, former Panthers RB D’Onta Foreman, former Packers TE Robert Tonyan, and former Titans OG Nate Davis. They also signed big price tag LB Tremaine Edmunds and LB T.J. Edwards. In the first round of the Draft at pick number ten, the Bears signed Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee.

  2. Detroit Lions – The Lions added a couple of key pieces in offense by signing former Bears RB David Montgomery to a three-year, $18 million contract, as well as returning, former Jaguars WR Marvin Jones, who previously played four seasons with the Lions between 2016 and 2020. The team also signed former Steelers CB Cameron Sutton to a three-year, $33 million contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 12, Detroit signed Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama.

  3. Green Bay Packers – After getting gutted this offseason the Packers look to rebuild their team. However, their offseason transactions and first round draft pick don’t show much of a sense of urgency with only five player transactions to speak of. They will look to start their 2020 first round QB draft pick Jordan Love, who thus far has played in six games with one start last season, completing 36 of 62 passes (58.1 pct.) for 411 yards with two TDs and three INTs (68.7 rating). In the first round of the Draft at pick number 13, the Packers signed Lukas Van Ness, Edge, Iowa.

  4. Minnesota Vikings – Looking to follow up the success of their 2022 season, finishing 13-4, the Vikings re-signed several players in key positions. Some of the more notable ones include RB Alexander Mattison, TE Josh Oliver, C Garrett Bradbury, and K Greg Joseph. The team also signed two-year contracts with former Packers DL Dean Lowry for $8.5 million, and former Cardinals CB Byron Murphy for $22 million. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 23, Minnesota signed Jordan Addison, WR, USC.

NFC South

  1. Atlanta Falcons – After releasing former starting QB Marcus Mariota, (now with the Eagles), the Falcons signed former Commanders QB Taylor Heinicke to a two-year, $20 million contract. However, Atlanta announced that their 2022 third-round draft pick QB Desmond Ridder will begin the season as the team’s starting QB. To aid Ridder, the Falcons signed former Buccaneers WR Scott Miller, and acquired TE Jonnu Smith in a trade with the Patriots in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round draft pick. In the first round of the Draft at pick number eight, the Falcons signed Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas.

  2. Carolina Panthers – The big news out of Carolina is the signing of the 2023 first overall draft pick QB Bryce Young out ofAlabama. The Panthers are looking to make an impact this season adding lots of fire power to their offense. Notable signings include former Eagles RB Miles Sanders, signed to a four-year, $25 million contract, former Vikings WR Adam Thielen, signed to a three-year, $25 million contract, and former Bengals TE Hayden Hurst, also signed to a three-year, $21.75 million deal. The team also added former Lions WR D.J. Charkand former Saints DL Shy Tuttle.

  3. New Orleans Saints – The Saints made a splash in the offseasonsigning former Raiders QB Derek Carr to a four-year, $150 million contract that includes $100 million in guarantees and a no-trade clause. While Carr will be team’s starting QB, the Saints re-signed QB Jameis Winston to a one-year deal. The Saints also signed former Lions RB Jamaal Williams to a three-year, $12 million contract, re-signed WR Michael Thomas to a one-year, $10 million deal, and agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract extension with TE Juwan Johnson. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 29, New Orleans signed Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson.

  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Following the retirement of legendary QB Tom Brady, the Bucs signed former Rams QB Baker Mayfield to a one-year, $8.5 million deal. The team also signed former Broncos RB Chase Edmonds to a one-year deal. In the first round of the Draft at pick number 19, Tampa Bay signed Calijah Kancey, DT, Pitt.  

NFC West

  1. Arizona Cardinals – The Cardinals have had an active, but quiet offseason so far signing multiple players to one to two-year contracts. Notably, the team signed K Matt Prater to a two-year, $7.5 million contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number six, the Cardinals signed Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State.

  2. Los Angeles Rams – The Rams have been quiet as well in the offseason, resigning three free agent players, and acquiring TE Hunter Long in a trade with Miami in exchange for CB Jalen Ramsey and a third-round pick. The Rams did not have any draft picks in the first round. Their first pick came in the second round at pick number 36, signing Steve Avila, OL, TCU.

  3. San Francisco 49ers – After losing QB Jimmy Garoppolo to the Raiders, the 49ers signed former Panthers QB Sam Darnold to a one-year, $4.5 million deal. Darnold will be part of the 49ers’starting QB discussion along with QBs Trey Lance and Brock Purdy. Also from Carolina, the 49ers acquired former Panthers K Zane Gonzalez in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick. San Francisco did not have any draft picks in the first or second rounds. Their first pick came in the third round at pick number 87, signing Ji’Ayir Brown, S, Penn State.

  4. Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks bet big on QB Geno Smith, re-signing him to a three-year, $75 million contract. The team also brought back long-time Seahawks defensive player, and former Rams LB Bobby Wagner on a one-year, $7 million contract. Their defensive line will see the addition of former Broncos DL Dre’Mont Jones, signed on a three-year, $51.5 million contract. In the first round of the Draft at pick number five, the Seahawks signed Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois.
